Manpower Supply & Staffing (Fiji) PTE LIMITED has been providing recruitment consultancy services and migrant worker placement services to various locally owned companies in Fiji since 2017, after recognizing that Fijian companies had been facing hardship especially in construction and trade industries. COVID 19 added much pressure to the Fijian companies and till to-date many companies are facing labour shortage due to migration of local tradesperson to foreign countries, especially to Australia and New Zealand. More to this, strenuous pressure was added to the local industries when NEW ZEALAND LABOUR HIRE- a New Zealand Manpower & Hiring company was awarded contract by New Zealand companies to recruit skilled and experienced workers to work in New Zealand. Since then, Fiji has not only lost skilled people but also the several years of training which local companies invested in them. NEW ZEALAND LABOUR HIRE has recruited over 1000 experienced and skilled trades’ people from Fiji and has vested interested to hire more people from Fiji (Fiji Sun; Feb, 24, 2018. Recently, “heron ASSIST” – Australia Placements PTE Limited has started recruiting people in Fiji which had gone through Education, Assessment and Training in Fiji under the banner of APTCFiji Sun; May 6, 2018). Foreign recruitment advertisements and to name a few, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand and Australia is evidenced in our newspapers quite frequently. Recently, the Australian and New Zealand Immigration Department have started inviting Fiji and the Pacific skilled workers to fill in labour shortage gap post-pandemic. Such trend of recruitment from Fiji will continue to happen as seasonal worker scheme of Australia and New Zealand (PALM & RSE) continue to recruit workers from Fiji.
